Max’d Out: A brief sit-down with LOTS’ new CEO
We recently caught up with LOTS Group’s CEO Max Blatt to talk about his new role, his goals for the company and what has him excited for the future.
You have now had the CEO-role for two months. What have you been up to?
We are aiming to establish LOTS in North America this year, so I would say our entry strategy has been the biggest focus area over the past two months. I think we should be able to elaborate on our plans in the very near future.
What are your goals for LOTS in the short term and long term?
In the short term we are looking to anchor our global position as the best transport provider within our selected industries – through continuing to grow, improving operationally and being identified as the partner of choice for our customers. Long term, LOTS’ ambition is to leverage our global footprint to integrate new technologies (such as autonomous trucks) into our ongoing operations on a broad scale to further drive efficiencies and benefits for our partners.
What strengths have you identified in the company in order to reach these goals?
I would have to say LOTS greatest strength is the attitude of our employees. Our folks come to work every day with the intention of improving our business – and not only as it directly relates to their specific job or role. I read a lot about agile working methods, but I feel like LOTS truly exemplifies it – which is a huge attribute.
Our culture is another key component – we have a super talented group of people who take their jobs seriously but not too seriously. It allows for a highly productive, but also enjoyable workday. That cultural draw is important as it incites creativity, helps with retention, and drives commitment.
Is there anything that you are especially proud of after being appointed CEO of the company?
A lot of what we do is something we are doing for the first time. What makes me proud is the approach we take – tackling every challenge with the full intention of not just overcoming it but mastering it – becoming better than anyone else at it. There is a certain gritty swagger to our company that I think sets us apart and makes us formidable.
Lastly, what are you looking forward to in your professional capacity this coming summer and fall?
Travelling again – I am eager to get back out to our operations and teams on the ground. I have not gotten to see our operations in Três Lagoas, our first in the Brazilian forest sector, personally yet – so looking forward to seeing the great work that is being done there.
